When the Museum of the Moving Image in New York opened its redesigned and expanded building in 2011 after a 67 million dollar renovation, they were seeking artists and creative collaborators to exhibit work and develop projects to mark the big occasion.

We had the opportunity to develop the main piece of the Real Virtuality exhibition with Realtime Unreal as center piece- an interactive new media art project for the grand opening. The project directly engaged museum visitors with the architecture by placing them within 3D, virtual world abstractions of the building that dynamically reconfigured as the viewer’s position changed.

IMMERSIVE provided the unique, real time, game engine and position tracking technologies and technical support to realize the project, which was visited by over 100,000 people in the first two weeks of opening. The project was also later adapted for an exhibit at the Musée d’art contemporain in Montreal, receiving wide acclaim from local media.
